Summary
A 19th Century photograph album, 1 of 3. Containing 66 albumen prints and 1 collotype print, from Italy, including Pisa, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Verona, Milan, and Turin. The whole album is bound in dark brown cloth with dark brown leather spine and corners. The spine is split and the corners are worn and the surface leather has worn away. The front and back boards are identically embossed with gilt borders at the edges of the leather detailing. The spine is decorated with horizontal gilt lines. The front and back free endpapers are made of plain paper. Handwritten in pencil in the top right corner of the front endpaper is: "1177 Vol I, 67 prints" There are a total of 67 prints, with one mounted per side on pages of heavy white card. Some are hand tinted. Each photograph as the corners cut across diagonally. A date of 1881 is written beneath the first photograph and another date of 1888 is written beneath the last photograph.

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
