Summary

A monochrome albumen print photograph by George Washington Wilson, depicting a view of Edinburgh from the Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland. The Royal Scottish Academy (now the Scottish National Gallery) in the midground, with Waverly railway Station behind it. The Scot Monument is on the left.. The print is mounted with broad paper borders. The corner shape is square. The photograph is photographically captioned from the negative: " Edinburgh from the Castle. 151. G.W.W" in bottom left corner.

Provenance

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
