Summary
A gelatine silver print stereograph depicting the Mosque Machpelah, the burial place of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Hebron, Palestine. In the foreground there are two men on horseback, two men and four children on foot and in the background a woman. The print is mounted on stiff, curved, grey card with rounded corners. The images have arched tops and square bottoms. Recto: Printed in black in on the right lower margin: '(42) - 3121 - Mosque Machpelah, the burial place of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Hebron, Pal. Copyright Underwood & Underwood.' In the left hand margin, printed in italic black ink: 'Underwood and Underwood Publishers New York, London, Toronto - Canada, Ottawa - Kansas.' In the right hand margin: 'Works and Studios Arlington, N.J., Westwood, N.J' In the centre top is printed in black ink the number 42. Verso is printed in black ink, with extensive description followed by, in English and 5 other languages : "Mosque Machpelah, the Burial Place of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Palestine. (Gen. 1xix 29-33)."
