A gelatine silver print stereograph depicting a staged scene of 4 persons, 1 man, 2 women, 1 girl at the window of a New England clapboard house. Recto: printed in English and German on the bottom edge of card to the right is 191A 'There is no rose without a Thorn' 'Keine Rose ohne Dornen'. On bottom left is printed Copyright 1889 by Littleton View Co. On left hand edge in italics is printed Littleton View Co Publishers, Littleton N.H. On right hand edge in italics is printed Sold only by Underwood & Underwood, Liverpool, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Ottawa, Kas, El Paso, Tex. Images are mounted on thick buff card. Card has a curved profile and rounded corners.

Provenance

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
