Summary
Watercolour, Temple Sowerby Manor from the North West by Frederick Lawson (Yeadon 1888 - Castle Bolton 1968). Inscribed: TEMPLE SOWERBY MANOR FROM THE NORTH WEST. FRED LAWSON MAY 1937. Watercolour 37.5 x 56 cm. Acidic washline mount. Bought for £100 in 1994 from Mr. K. Lessels, Burntisland. Oak cavetto frame 57 x 74.5 cm. Embossed in LH bottom corner of paper support, painted over: 'Dixon's/David Cox/Framing.' Inscribed in pencil on backing tape: 'Property of Sir John Kennedy'. Picture was framed by Art Picture House, P.O. Box 35, Salisbury. The artist is mentioned as an artist of note in ref. book Collection of English Watercolours by Derek Clifford. An example of artist's work is shown as picture no. 12 in above publication.
