Summary
A pink lustreware side plate, by Gray’s Pottery. Decorated to the top with a stylised rural scene centred by a simple building, surrounded by trailing leaves.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
Marks and inscriptions
Underside: Maker’s mark of a galleon in black on a green sea, in front of a yellow sky. Above black printed script “GRAY’S POTTERY / MADE IN / STOKE-ON-TRENT, / ENGLAND.” Underside but over the top of, and obscuring, the initial pottery mark.: “3 / JOHNSON BROS. / ENGLAND”
