Summary
A blue transfer printed ceramic warming plate, By Spode. The wide scalloped plate with a dished centre upon gently flared sides. With two moulded handles to opposing sides, one centred with a moulded acanthus leaf, the other enclosing a moulded spout to the hollow bottom section, and pierced with a hanging hole. Decorated to the top centre with a pastoral scene with figures by a river, with a ruin and a castle behind. Encircled by a border of geometric designs and scrolling foliage. With further rural scenes around the sides.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
