Summary
One of four pieces of wood, collectively wedged into the coal hole to create a makeshift shelf. A short length of pine with a thick mahogany veneer to two sides, probably formerly from the side of a chest of drawers. Cut as a rectangle of wood with a deep square channel across the width at one point, possibly for a front rail in between drawers on a chest of drawers.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
