Summary
A radio receiver by Ferranti. Of rectangular form with mahogany sides. The front recessed from the bevelled protruding sides, with a brown fabric mesh over the speaker cone to the top half. Over a brown plastic sliding scale with various European city names printed in white script. Above four white plastic dials, dished to the front with a convex centre. With a fabric wrapped plaited double power cord coming from the back, clad halfway down in white plastic coating and terminating with a three pin plug.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
Marks and inscriptions
Front: “F” in a rectangle above the script “FERRANTI”. With further script white printed script “FERRANTI / 255” and further below “FERRANTI LTD, Radio Works, MOSTON, MANCHESTER” together with electrical warnings printed to the back.
