Summary
A pine writing table, made by Khadambi Asalache. The (loose and removable) partial serpentine top (adapted from the top to chest of drawers 1512637), over a frieze, pierced with an interlaced ribbon and lozenge pattern open fretwork to two sides. Upon four block and baluster turned pine legs.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
Marks and inscriptions
Underside and inside of frame.: Inscribed to the back faintly in pencil “Back”. With further pencil marks on the inside of the left frieze rail detailing the interlaced ribbon fretwork pattern that remained uncarved. With an “A” in pencil to the inside back rail in the left corner and a “B” in pencil in the right corner.
