Summary

This kilim rug was most likely made in Türkiye. The geometric pattern consists of a repeating medallion-like design known as ‘guls’ (meaning flower). This rug was made using the slit-weave technique, meaning the wool was dyed before weaving and the colour changes are created through slits in the rug.

Provenance

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
