A carved oak and parcel gilt decorative wall panel, in a 17th century style. Carved as a protruding face with elaborate hair flanked by fish scale carved scrolls over a parcel gilt pendant berry, with three pairs of nuts to either side.

A carved oak and parcel gilt decorative wall panel, in a 17th century style. Carved as a protruding face with elaborate hair flanked by fish scale carved scrolls over a parcel gilt pendant berry, with three pairs of nuts to either side. Late 19th c. 189 x 92 x 43mm. Possibly taken from a door surround or salvaged from a similar in situ piece. With three holes bored to the reverse. A circular patch of glue to the reverse and “387” inscribed in blue biro ink. East wall left over mantelpiece.

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
