Summary
Hoist mechanism installed in the Mill in 1845. The gearing manufactured by Wren & Bennett of Manchester, the frame and ironwork by the mechanics and joiners at Quarry Bank. The mechanism is comprised of two main belt drums and a parallel drum. It is framed upon a pair of timber rails, housing the axles for the short shafts. The drums are connected by leather belts.
