Summary
An early, leather bound pattern book of fabric samples attached to card pages. Inside the front cover is written "Robert and Nathan Hyde, Manchester 1771", the sample pages are inter leaved with plain paper and the samples are set within paper frames. The cardboard pages are divided into windows, each holding a different sample and a handwritten number above the sample. Each cardboard page is preceded by a plain paper page. Samples include coloured cotton checks, coloured cotton stripes, coloured woven patterned braids, coloured silks, plain woven patterned cotton, coloured velvet, coloured cotton canvas, coloured courdoroy, patterned coloured velvet, coloured plush. On the back page is handwritten 'A list of goods that are manufactured and exported by Robert and Nathan Hyde of Manchester'. Some pages have notes in pencil. On the inside back cover in pencil are two drawings of a person and a profile.
