Summary
Plan on paper showing dyers frames and gearing at Quarry Bank Mill. The front of the plan, to the base, shows an ink drawing depicting a ceiling, beam and a 'Cross Shaft and Wheels for driving Dyers Frames'. This consists of a shaft with what appears to be bevel gears at both ends. There is also a scale to the bottom of the drawing, although this is hidden slightly as the document is folded over. On the reverse of the plan there is an additional drawing, this time depicting 'Dyers Frames and Gearing for driving them'. The drawing consists of a number of rectangular structures intersected by what appears to be sets of shafts and bevel gears. The drawing is to the scale of 3/8 to the foot. The drawing also has notes on shaft and pulley dimensions next to the drawing. The plan is produced in brown ink and has a white identification sticker on the reverse reading 'Dyers Frames and Gearing 145'. The plan is produced on cream paper and has a watermark reading 'JWATERMAN 1851' which may represent the date on which the drawing was produced or the date on which 'JWATERMAN' was established.
