Summary
Blue cloth-bound book entitled 'The Heart of the Antarctic' by Sir Ernest Shackleton C.V.O., published by Heinemann, 1910. The front cover has an engraved gold scene depicting three men in Arctic clothing standing by a Union Jack. The spine has the remains of a round white label and the number 49 is written in pencil. The book is stamped by the Styal Village Club Library on the first, third, fifth, and title pages. On the fourth page is a passage about the Encyclopaedia of Sport and Games by the publishers. On the frontispiece is a photograph of Sir Ernest Shackleton with a protective leaf. There are 368 pages with many black and white photos, maps diagrams and tables and index at the end. The publisher's monogram is engraved on the back cover bottom right corner.
