Summary
Green cloth-bound book entitled 'The Cottage Next Door' by Helen Shipton, published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 192pp with illustrations. The front cover has an engraved scene of an old cottage in black. The publishers monogram appears in black on the back cover. The spine has a round white label with the number '566' crossed out and '606' both in pencil and publishers' monogram at the bottom. The book is stamped by the Styal Village Club Library on the inside front cover and first pages, '606' and No. 55 crossed out. It is also stamped by the library on the inside back.The frontispiece is an engraving captioned 'Tom stood staring at her by the light of a flickering dip candle'. There is a protective leaf over the engraving.
