Summary
Dark red cloth-bound book entitled 'Barnaby Rudge', by Charles Dickens, published by J.M. Dent and Co. and in New York by E.P. Dutton and Co, printed by Richard Clay and Sons, Bread St. Hill E.C. and Bungay Suffolk, 1906, 633pp. On the spine are printed in gold the book details and it is decorated with a flower and trellis-work pattern. The front cover has the publishers monogram in the centre. Inside the front and back cover are decorated in light green with a verse 'Everyman. I will go with thee and be thy guide, in thy most need, to go by thy side'. There is a white circular label on the spine. The book is stamped by the Styal Village Club Library and the number '173' is written in pencil in the centre of the rubber stamp. The number '222' is crossed out in the top left corner. The book is part of the 'Everymans Library, edited by Ernest Rhys - FICTION - ' The following page has an advert for the publishers. The title page and facing page are highly decorated in b/w with the wording 'A tale which holdeth children from play and old men from the chimney corner', Sir Philip Sydney. 'Barnaby Rudge - a tale of the riots '80 by Charles Dickens'. There is an editors introduction and preface. There is a note in pencil on page ix of the editors introduction.
