Summary
Portrait miniature, Samuel Greg (1758 - 1834). Oval. Samuel Greg as a young man with his hair powdered and curled. He has a high neck band and the front of his shirt is frilled, he is wearing a high necked brown coat and two buttons are visible in the miniature. The entry in QBM Catalogue Record reads, 'The portrait of Samuel Greg (b1758 d1834) is a copy of earlier portraits, see photographs in Portrait Gallery, acc no's. 3290 and 2774. It is not known where, if at all the original portrait is......No artist's signature, it is painted on velum / ivory ? There is an extra sheet of cartridge paper between portrait and back panel. The style of painting is similar to 3517a I, IX and X.'
