Summary
Small hand embroidered sampler depicting the letters of the alphabet and the name of the creator Maria Oakes, Mr Greg's School 1869. The sampler is embriodered in blue thread and is in a wooden frame and covered by glass. The frame is ebony coloured and the corners are decorated with gilded rosettes.
Provenance
The sampler was created by Maria Oakes. She was the great grandmother of Mr Jackson, who was head gardener for many years at Lode Hill, Styal.
