Summary
One of a set of thirty two mounted photographs showing aspects of Venice and Florence, this one shows the statue of David by Michelangelo in Florence, in the Accademia from 1873, it was moved indoors then to protect it from the weather and pollution. The statue was commissioned by the city of Florence and positioned in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in 1504 when Michelangelo was twenty nine years old. The text beneath the photograph reads "Firenze - Accademia di Belle Arti - Il David di Michelangelo".
