Watercolour and pastel sketch, Mrs Jordan and another Actor in "The Devil to Pay" The play is the name of a farce by Jobson and Nelly. Believed to be by a fellow actor, Colbourn. Dorothea (Dorothy or Dora) Bland, Mrs Jordan (1762-1816) is seated left in yellow upholstered chair, wearing a white dress with pink sash. She turns to look behind her at a man in a blue coat with red scarf and black hat and buff trousers, who is standing, having just overturned his chair. In gold concave frame, glazed.
