Coffer with arched top, covered in crimson velvet and bound with bands of gilt copper embossed with double-headed eagles and conventional floral designs. Three hasps in front, two loop handles at the side, mounted on bracket feet. Italian, possibly 16th century.
Bequeathed by Lady Katherine Binning (1871-1952) with Fenton House in 1952.
