Summary
Photographic print of the actor-manager Sir Squire Bancroft (1841 - 1926), considered, with his wife (on centre panel) to be the inventors of 'drawing-room comedy'. Dating to 1888 (?). Written inscription – assumed to be a signature of the sitter – is present on the lower edge. Silver gelatine POP cabinet card. Photographed by Lombardie & Co. 13, Pall Mall East. Right-hand photograph on row of five images above central bevelled glass panel on left-hand screen.
