Summary
One of a pair of replica Anglo Saxon shoulder clasps. Brass and gilt metal cloisonné decorated with resin and millefiori glass, hinged around a central locking pin. Used to hold together heavy fabric or a padded garment. Indicating great wealth, they may also have been symbols of military or royal status.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust for the opening of the Exhibition Hall in 2002.
