Summary
Settee cushion. One of three fitted back cushions of an early 19th century heavily carved ebony settee with bulbous legs and reeded arms, squab seat, three fitted back cushions and two bolster cushions of crimson and green patterned cut velvet. From South India or Ceylon, it is probably derived from a design by Richard Brown ('Rudiments of Drawing Cabinet and Upholstery Furniture', London, 1822, pl.XII).
