Summary
Mangle. A clothes mangle typical of the late 1880s with a cast-iron frame and two wooden rollers. The rollers are rotated by a wooden handle on a cast-iron wheel with four double-curved spokes through a train of four gear wheels. The top of the frame has cast-iron handle with four arms, to operate on to leaf springs which adjust the pressure of the rollers. The two side pieces of the base have a pierced ornamental pattern in the cast-iron and are supported on an elongated X-frame. The bottoms of the side pieces carry four small cast-iron wheels. There are removable wooden trays on each side of the rollers, and a wooden drip tray below. The iron parts of the mangle are painted grenn.
