Watercolour heightened with white on paper, Soft Drying Day by Herbert Menzies Marshall (Leeds 1841 – London 1913), signed and dated 1886. Name-plate on front of frame is damaged. Stencilled on back, SOX. Also marked on the back in chalk, 81 4 / 87. A further stencil on the back reads, James Bourlet, frame maker. An additional card reads, 22 Belgrave Sq.

Purchased by the National Trust from the estate of the late George Richard Lawley Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall (1928 – 2001) with the assistance of the NHMF, the Art Fund and donations from members and supporters in 2002
