Summary
Stucco, Chimneypiece, with lion's head skin and paws draped as a swag with vine leaves and grapes, Dining Room, Felbrigg Hall, designed by James Paine the elder (Andover 1717 – France 1789). Mid C18 carved mantelpiece in stucco to look like white marble, with metal insert. Mid C19 grate. Hearthstone. Paine's design executed in hard stucco by local workmen.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
