Summary
A glass biscuit barrel in a silver-plate stand, English, second half 19th century. Cylindrical glass barrel with an internal flange on which stands a silver lid, the body decorated with 3 bands of vertical fluting, narrowly sandwiched between wide, cut horizontal grooves between bands, cut star base. Silver lid with flower and leaf finial, lily pads? Held in a silver open container with six feet, three beaded horizontal rails, and plain half-moon carrying handle. Marked 'EDS, EP, shield'. Stamped with maker's mark and 2732 on the underside.

Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
