Summary
A print, being a coloured lithograph of Major General Charles Ashe Windham (1810-1870) by James Henry Lynch (fl.1815 - d.London 1868). A full figure portrait of Major General Charles Ashe Windham (1810-1870) in uniform, looking to his right with his cap in his hand. On the ground are a bayonet and a cannon ball, with a harbour in the distance. Signed on a stone 'J.H. Lynch'. See also FEL/D/27 in the Stone Corridor. Son of Vice-Admiral William (Lukin) Windham and Anne Thellusson. Married Marianne Catherine Emily Beresford, daughter of Admiral Sir John de la Poer Beresford, 1st Bt. and Harriet Elizabeth Peirse, on 1 March 1849. He died on 2 February 1870
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969).
