Summary
Herbarium. Gentiana amarella. Collection of dried flowers, pressed and mounted on paper. Collected by Rev George Reeding Leather of Shropham Hall 1779-1836. His herbarium was sold in 1836 and split up. Part was bought by John Salmon and amalgamated with his own herbarium which is in Norwich City Museum. A great deal is in Ipswich Herbarium, but no date with it - info from Beckett 2001.
Provenance
Collected and preserved by Rev George Reeding Leather of Shropham Hall in the early 1800's. After his death his herbarium was sold in 1836 and split up. Part was bought by John Salmon and amalgamated with his own herbarium which is in Norwich City Museum. A further portion of the collection is in Ipswich Herbarium. A further 142 pages were acquired later by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969). Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
