Summary
Bronze, lioness with prey and cubs, after the model by Christophe Fratin (Metz 1800 – Raincy 1864), 19th century, signed. A bronze reduction of an original of group by Fratin exhibited at the Salon of 1835 (no. 2253, Lionne apportant une proie à ses lionceaux); a version in terracotta is at the Musée de Compiègne.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
