Summary
A sculpture in bronze; an equestrian statuette of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) (after Edmund Cotterill). The statue shows the Duke of Wellington in uniform, on a horse with lowered head and left front leg lifted. It is inscribed 'Published as the act directs by R. and S. Garrard, Paxton St, London, 18th June 1837'. It is after Edmund Cotterill (b.1795, exh 1822-58).
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969).
