Summary
A brass inlaid tortoiseshell and ormolu mounted writing table or bureau Mazarin, French, circa 1850 The leather inset top with arabesque inlaid border and cast ormolu edge above seven drawers to the kneehole. The drawers flanked by shaped pilasters which continue to square section tapered legs and brass turned feet tied by twin X stretchers. The whole profusely inlaid with arabesque scrolls and trailing foliage

Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
