Beautiful french style mahogany card table produced in the 19th Century. Hinged top with red baize covering. Complete with historic candlewax.
Summary
A walnut, amboyna, mahogany and brass mounted card table, English, circa 1880 in the manner of Holland and Son The cross banded hinged top with outset rounded corners and an inset baize playing surface above a line inlaid frieze, on brass mounted fluted turned tapered legs and brass cap feet. The back legs sliding out to create a drawer and to hold the top when open.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
