Summary
One of a pair of 'Boulle' ebonised beech, marble, brass inlaid faux tortoiseshell and ormolu mounted pier cabinets or meubles d'appui, French, circa 1880 The rectangular black marble top above a cast brass edge and single paneled door inlaid with arabesques of scrolling and interlaced foliage and scrolls, enclosing shelves. The door flanked by pilasters headed by ionic capitals. The sides with further cast brass mounts and a cast brass mount to the top edge of the plinth base
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
