Summary
Water filter. Salt-glazed stoneware. Barrel-shaped with two handles. Applied motifs - double loop garland of fruiting vines enclosing a royal coat-of-arms, 'Lipscombe and Co Patentees, 44 Queen Victoria St, Mansion House, London. And at Temple Bar'. Incised greek key pattern in 4 bands around top, bottom and two around body. Tap hole at bottom - no tap. Inner sealed shelf with lift-off filter valve?
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
