Summary

Print, mezzotint engraving; The Rt Hon. George Canning, MP (1770-1827) (after Sir Thomas Lawrence) by Charles Turner RA (Woodstock 1773 - London 1857). A black and white print and cream mount with extensive light foxing, subject is a seated man in a dark suit with high white collar and tie and fitted shirt. Inscription immediately below print reads, Printed by Sir Thomas Lawrence, Principal Painter in Ordinary to His Majesty F.R.A. Engraved by Charles Turner, Mezzotinto Engraver in Ordinary to His Majesty / To His most Excellent Majesty / This portrait of / THE RIGHT HONORABLE GEORGE CANNING,M.P. / First Lord of the Treasury / Is by His Gracious Permission Dedicated / By His Majesty's very humble subjects and obliged servants / Colnaghe Son and Co. / by printsellers to His Majesty, Mr Turner No.60, Warren Street, Fitzroy Square in Paris by Giralden, Bovinet Passage Vsieru, No 25 abd messrs. Allen, printsellers Dublin. Frame is ebonised wood with gold decorated edges on either side.
