Summary
A George III Axminster carpet, C. 1800, the two tone crimson coloured field of floral and trellised design within a framework inner border and wide outer border, designed with foliage arabesques. Perhaps purchased from the celebrated carpet dealer and manufacturer, Moor of Moorfields, see Sir Matthew's Account Book, January 1st 1765, 'Pd. Mr.Moor for carpets stock £33.7.0.' (NT/UPP/T/3b is matching rug).
