Summary
Plaster, 'The Wanton Courser thus with reins unbound' by George Garrard, RA (London 1760 – Brompton 1826). One of two plaster reliefs, painted to resemble bronze. By George Garrard, 1760 to 1826. (1 November 1804). There is a reference to these reliefs in the Dictionary of English Sculptors 1660 to 1851, Rupert Gunnis, p.164. Mostly destroyed in the fire and reconstructed. Fragments of the originals dated 1st November 1804 have survived. 'Popes Homer The Wanton Courser George Garrard fecit Nov.1 1804' written on back and front.
