Summary
Plaster sculpture, Francis Russell, 5th Duke of Bedford (1765-1802) by George Garrard, RA (London 1760 – Brompton 1826). One of four busts. Duke of Bedford by George Garrard dated 27 July 1805. Plaster painted to resemble bronze. Destroyed in the fire at Uppark on 30th August 1989. Copy made (NT/UPP/SC/35a) and now on display at house. (There is a reference in 'Dictionary of English Sculptors 1660 to 1851', Rupert Gunnis, p.164). (NT/UPP/SC/2b, c and d are others in set).
