Summary
A patinated and gilt bronze flying console, from a set of four, circa 1813, with scrolled anthemion supports surmounted by a serpentine shaped grey marble top. These consoles were specifically designed to fit into the four niches of the dining room. They were introduced by the architect Humphry Repton (1752-1818) who supervised the re-arrangement of the dining room circa 1813.

A pair of comparable bronze and marble consoles were fitted to the walls in the Saloon (NT 137634.1-2).
Provenance
by descent; given to the National Trust in 1954 with the house and some of its contents by Admiral the Hon. Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh.
