Summary
A padouk-wood and mahogany hall bench, from a pair, circa 1815, with a serpentine toprail centred by a palmette flanked to each side by a foliate scroll, above a rectangular back flanked to each side by fluted columns with acorn finials, the back divided into three sections, the sides with crossed panels, the central panel with the Fetherstonhaugh coat of arms with three Ostrich feathers and a charged chevron crested by a passant antelope, above a rectangular seat on fluted tapering legs and toupie feet.

Purchased by the National Trust from the Trustees of the late R.J. Meade-Fetherstonhaugh, Esq.with the help of a grant from the Purchase Grant Fund, 1978.
