Summary
Evening dress, sleeveless and full length. Made in four pieces with one main piece for front shaped with darts, and two at back plus straps. Made from a black rayon satin with damask motifs outlined with soutache braid. Lined in black rayon to hip level. 'Sweetheart' neckline, the bodice is boned at the bust following the lines of the darts which shape the dress at the front. The fabric is pleated and machine stitched down about 35mm from the bust dart, the pleating continues to form the broad shoulder straps and this piece extends to form a border top stitched to the back of the dress, following a low 'V' line. The border is beaded with iridescent faceted beads and single tear-drops. The border widens to form a lozenge shape at centre back waist, and the skirt panels are gathered into this point to create extra fullness at the centre back skirt. Dress fastens at left side with metal zip 'LIGHTNING' and metal hook and eye. Machine stitched.
