Summary
Afternoon dress, skirt appears to have been constructed from front pieces, bodice made from five main pieces. Full 'crinoline' skirt, pleated into waistband. Hem of skirt edged with blue velvet brush braid. Bodice hand-stitched to skirt. Piped seam at waistline which is straight and at a natural level. Bodice has rounded (piped) and very full 'Bishops' sleeves, ending in blue and silver hand-made silk tassel triming. Self fabric bows trim the top of the sleeves, also edged with the tassel trimming. A broad band of brocade trims bodice and front, arranged in 'V' shape following the lines of the garment. Again, edged with the tassel triming. The dress fastens centre front bodice and top of skirt with eleven pairs of metal hooks and eyes. Lined with white glazed cotton and muslin, small watch pocket at waist. Three rosettes trim centre front bodice.
