Summary
Afternoon dress made in 16 main pieces. Calf to ankle-length skirt; rounded neckline coming to a gentle 'V' at centre front. Loose fitting shape, low waistline, skirt flares out from shaped panels at hips. Sleeves cut full to elbow in sharp triangular shape, tight-fitting from elbow to wrist, ending in pointed cuff. Sleeves with eighteen non-functional self-covered buttons. Cuffs fasten with three metal press studs. Dress fastens at left side with seven metal hooks and worked thread loops. Dress made of black panne velvet, no lining. Main seams machine stitched, neckline finished by hand.
