Summary
Full length evening dress with over-tunic and trained skirt. Satin foundation, black silk / cotton mix. Skirt cut to form curved train falling fronm centre back. High waisted bodice lined with black silk and cotton. Bodice overlaid with black spangled tulle at centre back opening. A spotted tulle forms short sleeves. The entire bodice and skirt to knee are overlaid with a tunic of cotton net, beaded overall with pendant strings of stort black bugles finished with shaped metal spangles. A seperate border of fine tulle beaded with looped strings of small black glass beads is stitched to the hem of the tunic. The skirt of the tunic is cut wide at the hips, filling to form drapery at the sides. The waistband is formed of a band of softly pleated tulle. The bodice has a low rounded neckline edged with diamante. A piece of beaded net has been added to cover loss from the front waist to left neckline. 30 mm edging of spotted tulle, drawstring at neck. Fastens with eleven hooks and eyes (corroded) and two press studs at CB waist. 1907 - 1912 (circa)
