Summary
Fine white cotton, very long christening gown. Bodice front and wide front skirt panel lavishly trimmed with hand tucking, machined muslin and open work strips and machined 'swiss embroidery' wide edging all applied with fancy herringbone hand stitching. Very full skirt, trimmed with 24 rows of hand stitched tucks towards hem. Hem and robings of front panel edged with the wide 'swiss' embroidery edging. 1870 (circa)
