Day dress of cream silk; shirt waister style with turned down collar, notched lapel, buttoned front opening to hip-length; sleeveless; bodice with vertical knife edge pleats from yoke to waist; skirt with knife-edge pleats from waist below knee length with narrow petersham waistband. Bodice lined in cream silk. Label 'John Cavanagh, boutique, 27 Curzon Street, London, W1' (Cavanagh Florit 1952-74) Note; Pleats tacked roughly at hemline, would have been worn with belt. 1950 (circa)
